PRESS RELEASE
This is a preliminary press release regarding recent events within the Rural Municipality of Lakeshore. It is intended for the citizens of the RM plus other concerned individuals.
It has become quite obvious to the Acting Reeve and to members of Council that many rumors are circulating in regard to what has transpired within the Municipal office since early October. For some time Council was aware of serious administrative deficiencies within the office. As a result of what came to light, Council acted in early October. The Chief Administrative Officer and the Assistant Chief Administrative Officer were placed on administrative leave of absence until further notice.
An accounting firm was hired to perform a specified procedures engagement regarding specific financial issues and areas of concern. An interim Chief Administrative Officer was hired.
The accounting firm has produced a draft initial report, but this has not yet been reviewed by Council.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police have been invited to review the results of the specified procedures engagement from the accounting firm.
The Municipality is currently searching for a permanent Chief Administrative Officer and an addition administrative assistant.
Further information in regard to all that has transpired during this difficult time will be released once known. Transparency is owed to all of Lakeshore’s citizens; however it must be delivered in a professional and legal manner. Thank you all for your patience.
ONE FINAL NOTE. Please remember to get out and vote in the upcoming by-election on 15 January 2025. There are two Council seats and the Reeve’s position open so also consider possibly running for one of these seats.
